TEL AVIV, August 24, 2011 (WAFA) – The Israeli state prosecution Wednesday decided to file an indictment against an Israeli brigade commander under the pretext of killing a Palestinian in Ramallah in 2007, without warning or asking him to stop.
The Israeli prosecution filed the indictment after B'Tselem, an Israeli rights group, demanded the investigation of the murder of Firas Kouskous, father of three, from Battir village near Bethlehem, especially after finding discrepancies in the soldiers' and officer’s statements.
The right-wing Israeli commander shot Kouskous in his back; he was transferred to Ramallah hospital and died a few hours later.
The commander said he had warned Kouskous and shot at him when the man ignored his warnings; however, soldiers said this was untrue, and that the man posed no danger to them.
