In compliance with DepED Order No. 39, s. 2009, this advisory is issued for the information of DepEd officials and personnel to advise students to watch the showing of GMA-7's 'Philippine Treasures', a special documentary about some of the country’s historical artifacts, most important relics from the Philippines' literally rich pre-colonial past and many others. The documentary is hosted by Ms. Mel Tiangco with reporting by Mariz Umali, Cesar Apolinario, Tina Panganiban-Perez, and John Consulta.

In pursuant to the Rule 8, Chapter 6, Section 49, 50 and 51, of Republic Act (RA) No. 8491 otherwise known as the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines, the Office of the Secretary through DepEd Order No. 63, s. of 2011, has released on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 the official seal of the Department of Education (DepEd) duly approved by the Office of the President, Malacañang, Manila.

2011 Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa Theme


DepEd Memo No. 148, s. of 2011:

Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa 2011

The Department of Education (DepEd) last year's theme for Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa had focused on the promotion of the national language and environmental protection.

Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa is celebrated during the month of  August per the provision of Presidential Decree 1041, series of 1997, as declared by former President Fidel Ramos.

This year's theme is..."Ang Filipino ay Wikang Panlahat, Ilaw at Lakas sa Tuwid na Landas" focuses on the following purposes:

a. to carry out the duties as prescribed by KWF in Section XIV, Letter L of the Republic Act No. 7104;

b. fully implement the Proclamation No. 1041 of the President of the Philippines;

c. demonstrate to the people the importance of visualizing the national language and its history on the 75th anniversary of the KWF;
 
d. motivate the Filipinos to participate in the essay writing contest in Filipino language.

e.  re-assess and measure in performing the implementation of Executive Order No. 335, and
 
f. hold the  language conference with the purpose of updating the knowledge and language issues.

The month-long  celebration is divided into five weekly topics and are as follows:
