Number with Ref. 6542 as the first generation of GMT Master. Not yet equipped with the crown protecting shoulders.
This Ref. 6542 is the first generation GMT Master, was the First design equipped with Cyclops (Magnifying glass on the date) In 1965, GMT Master the dual colour bezel used metal instead of plastic.
Pan Am assigned the Rolex GMT Master as Pan Am official timer and offered each of the officers of the higher rank, pilots and captains A GMT Master! Since 1960, GMT Master Change to Ref. 1675, equipped with Protective Shoulder Crown, GMT hand was made larger, and most of the feature were quite similar as today. GMT Master, Ref. 1675 was printed “Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified”. The Ref. 6542 was printed “Chronometer Officially certified”.

This is another Rolex GMT Master II, I had one two years ago and I sold it to someone. This is a very new... had just been serviced at Rolex Service centre for case Polishment. The Watch has a S/N of A680XXX. year 1999-2000.
Rolex GMT Master II was originally designed for US Airline Pilot in 1954.. Till now, they have not undergone any major change on the outlook, just some touch up of the minor details… So GMT Master II is a Classic for Future… I have had two GMT Master, I and II… And I like the way they present the 24 hour over the use of the rotating bezel. Attached one is just a beautiful sample just returned from Rolex Service Centre in Hong Kong. Note the faded colour on the RED portion on the bezel. HK Snob
