Sheen takes batting practice at Chase Field in AZ (AP)

PHOENIX – Charlie Sheen got some batting practice then asked for ice for his elbow before an Arizona Diamondbacks-New York Mets game at Chase Field.

Sheen later watched the Sunday game from a suite. Pictures showed his right elbow wrapped with a bandage.

Sheen had a pre-existing elbow injury that flared up, Diamondbacks President Derrick Hall said Monday.

It was the team's understanding that Sheen is trying to get back into shape for a possible sequel to the "Major League" movies, Diamondbacks spokesman Casey Wilcox said.

However, Sheen publicist Larry Solters said he wasn't aware of any "Major League" sequel but he didn't necessarily rule it out.

Former major league player Todd Zeile had asked if he and Sheen could take batting practice.

They hit balls for 30 minutes before the stadium gates opened.

Charlie Sheen gets trashed by Insane Clown Posse (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) – Perhaps Charlie Sheen should have thought twice about agreeing to go face-to-face with horror-rap duo Insane Clown Posse's infamously rowdy fans -- semi-affectionately known as Juggalos -- this weekend.

Sheen didn't exactly get showered with affection while hosting the annual Gathering of the Juggalos, which was held at Cave-In-Rock, Ill. from Thursday to Sunday -- more like showered with debris.

The ousted "Two and a Half Men" actor -- who's preparing to star in a small-screen adaptation of the Jack Nicholson film "Anger Management" -- encountered a bit of, well, unmanaged anger during his guest stint at the yearly festival.

Serving as host for Saturday's festivities, Sheen was greeted with boos -- and no small number of projectiles being hurled at him from the audience.

At least he did slightly better than Tila Tequila, who claimed to have been pelted with bottles and feces during her Gathering of the Juggalos appearance last year.

And who knows? Sheen's less-than-adoring reaction from the crowd might serve as good practice for his Comedy Central roast, which airs on September 19 -- the same night as Ashton Kutcher's debut as Sheen's replacement on "Two and a Half Men."

DC police demotion follows Sheen escort dustup (AP)

WASHINGTON – The commander of a District of Columbia police division who publicly clashed with the chief over the use and frequency of police escorts for celebrities after the Charlie Sheen ride has been demoted.

Hilton Burton said he was transferred out of special operations and demoted to captain in the medical clinic for injured officers. He said he believes his demotion was in response to his June appearance before the D.C. Council, in which he said police escorts were routinely provided for celebrities visiting Washington.

The testimony contradicted statements by Police Chief Cathy Lanier. She had said a police escort from a northern Virginia airport for Sheen in April violated department policy because of its speed and use of sirens, and that escorts weren't generally intended for celebrities.

Lanier told reporters Tuesday the demotion had nothing to with Burton's testimony.

Sheen withdraws lawsuit over NY hotel incident (AP)

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Court records show a judge has granted Charlie Sheen's request to dismiss a lawsuit filed against a woman who locked herself in the bathroom of an upscale New York hotel room that the actor left in tatters.

Sheen claimed Capri Anderson locked herself in the bathroom of the Plaza Hotel because she had taken one of his watches valued at $165,000. His lawsuit sought reimbursement.

Anderson told police the actor put his hands around her throat during the raucous evening in late October, but she managed to slip away.

Sheen sued Anderson for attempted extortion in November after she recounted her version of events on "Good Morning America."

Court records show Sheen's attorney were granted a dismissal of the case without prejudice on Friday, which means the actor could re-file.

Charlie Sheen to return in new sitcom (AP)

NEW YORK – Former "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen is planning a return to series television in "Anger Management," a new sitcom based on the 2003 film of the same name.

No network is attached to the series, which will be produced by Lionsgate Television and distributed by a subsidiary, Debmar-Mercury, the company announced Monday.

No co-stars or production start date were disclosed.

Sheen will retain a "significant ownership stake" in the series, said Lionsgate.

In the film, which starred Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler, a mild-mannered man is ordered to attend group anger-management sessions led by a therapist who needs therapy himself.
