Jon Stewart blasts Obama, Tea Party over debt deal (Reuters)

NEW YORK (TheWrap.com) – As the Democrats cave and the Tea Party rages on, neither side is happy with the budget deal -- a deal that rendered Jon Stewart incredulous.

Stewart thought he remembered that President Barack Obama assured everyone no budget would pass without revenue increases -- meaning tax cuts.

"That's ... eh ... they must have forgotten to add 'and with the new balanced approach to deficit reduction forged by rational adults there're some revenue increases whilst preserving some vital government functions.'"

Nope. After a video of a skunk with its head in a jar of peanut butter and Barack Obama thanking the American people for pushing a deal forward, Stewart dubbed the compromise a "turd."

He then assumed the Republicans were happy because the Democrats got "hosed."

Nope. "What the fee-fi-fo-f**k!" Stewart screamed.

That seems to be the prevailing sentiment. You can see the video here: http://www.thewrap.com/media/column-post/jon-stewart-blasts-barack-obama-tea-party-over-turd-debt-deal-29668

Stewart suits up for battle in 'Snow White' (AP)

SAN DIEGO – Kristen Stewart dons armor and wields a huge sword and shield for her next movie. Rest assured, it will not be your mother and father's Snow White.

Stewart joined other cast and crew Saturday at the Comic-Con fan convention for a preview of next year's "Snow White and the Huntsman," an action-packed twist on the fairy tale.

The "Twilight" star told a Comic-Con crowd that doing a sweet, traditional Snow White was not something "I was jumping at." What attracted her was that this Snow White was a bold leader with her feet firmly on the ground.

"Also, I get to have a sword and stuff," Stewart said. "Really cool weapons."

The movie is due out next June and is one of two "Snow White" movies Hollywood has coming. The other, due out next March, features Julia Roberts as the evil queen.

The cast of Stewart's "Snow White" includes Charlize Theron as the wicked queen, Chris Hemsworth as a rugged huntsman and Sam Claflin as a prince.

The movie starts shooting in a few weeks. Director Rupert Sanders showed off photos of the stars in costume, among them Stewart in her fighting outfit and Theron in a sleek black gown with savagely high and sharp collars.

How evil is Theron's queen?

"She's a serial killer," Theron said. "I'm pretty much preparing to play a serial killer."

Sanders also showed a photo of the dwarves that accompany Snow White in this version, all standing in a row looking scruffier than a gang in a police lineup. The actors playing them include Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, Ray Winstone, Nick Frost and Toby Jones.

There are eight dwarves rather than the usual seven. Sanders said "there are eight because there are a few great lines when one of them gets killed."

Theron, Stewart square off in new "Snow White" (Reuters)

SAN DIEGO (TheWrap) – Things might get a little tense between co-stars Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart on the set of the upcoming Universal movie "Snow White and the Huntsman."

Theron, who'll be playing the queen in the picture, and Stewart, who'll be Snow White, were on hand for a "Snow White" panel at Comic-Con on Saturday.

When asked by the moderator if she planned on giving the younger Stewart any pointers, Theron responded, "We've only met each other very briefly, but just in that small amount of time I can tell you that she's going to give me a run for my money."

Then, turning to her co-star-to be, she cautioned, "I'm ready for you b , let's go!"

Theron was kidding -- probably -- but producer Joe Roth made no bones about how "Huntsman," which goes into production in the U.K. in a few days, measures up against Relativity Media's competing Snow White production, which will star Julia Roberts and Lily Collins.

"They are two very different projects; our movie I like to think of as on a par with 'Lord of the Rings' in terms of size and scope," Roth said. "I can't speak for the other movie but from the images it seems like a softer version."

Noted director Rupert Sanders, "It's not a little girl sitting by a well with little tweety-birds."

Nonetheless, Roth said the box office will most likely have room for both films, which open just weeks apart from each other ("Huntsman" opens June 1, while Relativity's Snow White project hits screens on March 16).

"The fact is, people are interested in these kinds of movies or they're not," Roth opined.

Preliminary images of the characters shown during the panel indicate that "Huntsman" will, indeed, be a much darker-than-usual version of the classic fairy tale. A shot of Stewart in character revealed an armor-clad woman bearing a shield and some serious weaponry.

"She has this amazing ability to channel fear into this really driving energy, Stewart said of her character's appeal. "She truly doesn't let her heart cloud her mind ... also, I get to use a sword and stuff."

Stewart will likely need that sword, if Theron's description of her character the Queen is any indication.

"Trust me, she's dark -- she's a serial killer. I'm pretty much getting ready to play a serial killer," she said. "Watch out. Kristen."

Maybe she wasn't kidding, after all.
