"Kid" from 80s hip-hop band Kid 'n Play arrested (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – One half of the late 1980s hip-hop band Kid 'n Play was arrested on Tuesday for skipping out on a court hearing in connection with a 2010 drunk driving conviction, court officials.

Christopher "Kid" Reid, 47, was booked into the Los Angeles County Jail shortly before noon and held in lieu of $26,000 bail.

He was taken in after a judge issued a warrant for his arrest on August 2 for missing a July 25 hearing, said Patricia Kelly, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Reid was under court-supervised probation for a conviction stemming from a July 2010 arrest for driving with almost double the legal alcohol limit, Kelly said.

Reid was one half of the popular late 80s and early 1990s hip hop band, Kid 'n Play. Reid, along with Christopher "Play" Martin, were most popular for their roles in the "House Party" comedy films.

VH1 explores hip-hop and cocaine in new docu (AP)

NEW YORK – VH1 is exploring the connection between hip-hop and cocaine.

The network will air "Planet Rock: The Story of Hip Hop and the Crack Generation" next month. It explores the development of crack cocaine in the urban community and features rappers Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill's B-Real and Wu-Tang Clan members RZA and Raekwon.

The two-hour special will air Sept. 18 at 10 p.m. Eastern. It was executive produced by rapper-actor Ice-T. He also narrates the documentary.

VH1 made the announcement Tuesday.

"Planet Rock" is the latest documentary by VH1 Rock Doc, which recently earned an Emmy nomination for the special, "Soul Train: The Hippest Trip in America."

Esther Baxter first turned heads as one of the hip-hop honeys in Petey Pablo’s "Freek-a-Leak" video (and is often referred to as Miss Freek-a-Leak). 7 - Tomika Skanes

This smokin’ hot Blasian has appeared in videos by Outkast, Ludacris and Ginuwine, and is also well-known for her slick spreads in Black Men, SSX, KING, XXL, and Smooth magazines. To hip-hop lovers, Tomika Skane is instantly recognizable as the hot mama who appeared on the album cover of OutKast’s Stankonia.

6 - Gloria Velez

This gorgeous video vixen of Puerto Rican descent started off as one of *NSYNC’s tour dancers and quickly became a mainstay in videos as a hip-hop honey, garnering attention in Jay-Z’s “Big Pimpin’” among others. She also launched a rap career and independently released her debut album, Glory -- although to mediocre reviews and a mere tinge of public interest.

5 - Angel

Angel is considered to be 50 Cent’s newest protege, and has already earned a massive following. She regularly appears on the pages of XXL, KING and Black Men, but most of her fans know her from appearances in videos by 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Young Jeezy, and Lloyd Banks. Angel was born in Ethiopia, but raised in Washington, D.C., where she was discovered.

Meagan Good has been around for a while as an actress and model, but never really achieved the recognition she deserved. However, her hip-hop honey career was underway after turning up in several mainstream music videos -- 50 Cent’s “21 Questions” in particular. She also had a short and stormy relationship with Jamie Foxx, which he continues to deny ever happened.

3 - Melyssa Ford

Melyssa Ford has appeared in countless music videos and set the standard for young aspiring actresses/dancers who want to break into the industry. The Toronto-born hip-hop honey is often referred to as Jessica Rabbit for her cartoon-like proportions. West Coast rapper The Game ridiculed her and many others in his famous dis to hip-hop honeys in the song “Couldn’t Get Far”: “They don’t know Melyssa Ford drives a Honda Accord.”

2 - Jesikah Maximus

Jesikah Maximus is relatively new to the hip-hop video scene, but she has already earned a spot among the industry’s most sought-after honeys. She has been eye candy in videos by The Fixxers and Ray Lavender, and this Mexican-American bombshell is sure to be a name we’re all familiar with soon.
