Coroner confirms "Real Housewives" husband suicide (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – The husband of Beverly Hills "Real Housewives" television star Taylor Armstrong committed suicide by hanging, coroner officials said on Wednesday.

An autopsy on Russell Armstrong, 47, also found no preliminary traces of drugs or alcohol in the body of the venture capitalist who died on Monday, the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office said.

No suicide note was found with his body.

Armstrong's death came three weeks before the scheduled start of the second season of the reality TV show about six rich women in Beverly Hills.

Taylor Armstrong had filed for divorce in July and her husband was facing a $1.5 million breach of contract lawsuit. His lawyer told reporters on Tuesday that Russell Armstrong was facing huge financial problems and said the apparently wealthy couple were living way beyond their means.

Cable channel Bravo has yet to say whether it will go ahead with "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" as planned on September 5, or how it will deal with the tragedy on screen.

"We're all still trying to process yesterday's very sad news, and looking at how to proceed with the series, which has finished primary production and was set to premiere on Labor Day. We'll let you know what we decide when we do. In the meantime, we're sending our thoughts and prayers to Taylor and the rest of Russell's family," Bravo's original programing executive Andy Cohen said on his blog on Wednesday.

The marital problems of Taylor and Russell Armstrong emerged in the first season of the show earlier this year, and were expected to be a key theme in the upcoming season.

Ex-Playboy CEO Hefner's husband in SEC insider pact (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Reuters) – The husband of former Playboy Enterprises Inc Chief Executive Christie Hefner agreed to pay $168,352 to settle regulatory charges that he engaged in insider trading of the publisher's shares based on information he learned from his wife.

William Marovitz, 66, was accused by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission of improperly trading Playboy shares in his brokerage accounts from 2004 to 2009 despite being warned by his wife and Playboy's top lawyer not to do so.

"In 1998, Hefner made clear to Marovitz, both personally and through Playboy's general counsel, that she expected him to keep any information he learned from her confidential and not use the information to trade shares of Playboy," papers filed Wednesday with U.S. district court in Chicago show.

Marovitz married Hefner in 1995, making him the son-in-law of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner. Christie Hefner, 58, was Playboy's chief executive from 1988 to 2009.

Despite the warnings, the SEC said, Marovitz traded ahead of Playboy's announcements of 2004 and 2008 quarterly earnings shortfalls and a 2004 stock offering.

It said he also traded when Playboy was in talks to be acquired by Iconix Brand Group Inc in late 2009.

Christie Hefner had stepped down as chief executive and from Playboy's board earlier that year but continued to negotiate a possible sale, the SEC said.

Talks later broke down, and Hugh Hefner ultimately took Playboy private in March 2011 in a roughly $207 million transaction.

Marovitz, a lawyer and former Illinois state senator, is president of Marovitz Group, a Chicago real estate development company. His payment covers $100,952 of alleged improper trading gains, $34,236 of interest and a $33,164 civil fine.

The defendant did not admit wrongdoing, and his settlement requires court approval.

"Mr. Marovitz has no comment on the settlement, but he wishes to note that he lost a substantial amount of money on his investments in Playboy stock over the years," his lawyer James Streicker said.

Playboy spokeswoman Cathy Walker and Martha Lindeman, a spokeswoman for Christie Hefner, declined to comment.

Based in Chicago, Playboy is known for its namesake magazine, founded by Hugh Hefner in 1953 and featuring nude centerfolds, and its "Bunny Ears" logo.

Gabor's husband puts up 25th anniversary billboard (AP)

By SANDY COHEN, AP Entertainment Writer Sandy Cohen, Ap Entertainment Writer – Thu Jul 28, 8:17 pm ET

LOS ANGELES – Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband is saying happy anniversary in a big way. Frederic Von Anhalt has taken out a billboard on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles to celebrate the couple's 25th wedding anniversary. Beside the couple's wedding photo, it reads, "Prince Frederic & Princess Zsa Zsa 25 years and counting." It also includes Von Anhalt's website.

Gabor and Von Anhalt were married August 14, 1986.

He said the billboard is an anniversary gift for his ailing 94-year-old wife, who smiled when she saw a picture of it on TV.

"She said, `Oscar de la Renta,'" Von Anhalt said Thursday, adding that she is wearing a dress by the designer in the photo on the billboard. "It was her favorite dress, and she looked at it and she remembered it."

Von Anhalt said he spent his "life savings" on the $68,000 billboard, which will be up for one month.

"The billboard was very expensive," said the 68-year-old, who says he is a German prince. "I just put my life savings in it. I said forget about tomorrow. I want to do it today. I want to do it for her."

"Being married to Zsa Zsa these 25 years, it's priceless," he continued. "What she gave to me, the things we did together, the happy life we had together, you can't pay for it with money. It was perfect. It was just perfect and we're going to go on."

Gabor has been hospitalized repeatedly over the past year and had her leg amputated in January. Von Anhalt said she remains bedridden at home.

"It didn't get better or worse," he said. "Every day is a gift from God when you're 94 and have been through all those things. We make the best out of it and make it as comfortable as possible for her."

He said that he is planning an anniversary party at the couple's Bel-Air home next month. Gabor wants to see some friends, he said, who will be allowed to visit her in her bedroom one at a time.

Von Anhalt said his wife will have her hair and makeup done for the party: "She can't get out of bed, but I want her to look beautiful."
