JERUSALEM, September 2, 2011 (WAFA) - The European Union missions in Jerusalem and Ramallah Friday expressed deep concern over the humanitarian impact and political implications of the planned route of Israel’s barrier in the village of Al-Walaja, between Jerusalem and Bethlehem.
A statement issued by the EU .missions said the barrier, when completed, “will completely encircle Al-Walaja, leaving a single access road connecting the village with the rest of the West Bank.”
It said the planned route of the barrier deviates from the Green Line to incorporate the settlements of Gilo and Har Gilo.
Moreover, the barrier will cut off much of the village's land, preventing many residents from accessing their land, including agricultural land.
